People often ask what my absolute wardrobe essentials are and often I’ll reply with a few beauty essentials too. Every summer I stock up on my favourite vibrant shades of lipstick and I’m never without one in my handbag. They’re perfect for adding a instant pop of colour and can easily take your look from day to night with one easy application. For someone who spends days on end in the city for meetings then having to race to events in the night, lipsticks are one of my favourite pick me ups. They’re kind of along the same lines of my hot cup of coffee in the morning when replying to emails or watching Modern Family in fits of laughter to keep me awake on the plane while crossing timezones. Well, kind of.

During the day I mix a nude and dusty pink lipstick to achieve that natural flushed looking lip or a light tangerine colour for a fresh spring look. For the night I’ll opt for a fire engine red, a bright orange or a moody dark wine colour if I really feel like being sexy, which is kind of never, sorry about that Luke. But this watermelon slash fuchsia pink really took me by surprise, so much so that I decided to write a whole blog post about lipstick just because it inspired me so much. This shade is from the Rouge in Love collection by Lancome (colour 351 for those who always ask for the specifics) and I’m absolutely loving how it’s not as harsh as a bright red lipstick. Plus it perfectly matched this floral dress that I look like I stole from a 50′s housewife. Perfect. Now to work on that being sexy part…
