With the somber mood that naturally comes with winter, I always feel more inclined to wear bright colours and prints in the colder months to not only cheer myself up, but also the people around me. It doesn’t hurt to look like a human lemon sometimes, especially when there’s some sort of delicious fruit print involved or if it’s from J Crew, one of my all time favourite brands (when will one ever open in Australia!?). I wore this look to the Prabal Gurung show at #NYFW and after posting this look on Instagram, I quickly realised this outfit fell into the “You either hate it or love it” pile, with girls commenting about how it reminded them of Dick Tracey or that it was “too much”. I’m not going to lie, when someone references my look to a cartoon character I’ll always take it as a positive. I was kind of hoping for the quirky Japanese anime characters from Studio Ghibli (life goal? Perhaps…) but at least I have my next Halloween outfit ready to go. All I need to find now is a bright yellow fedora by October 31st and my outfit will be complete.
