So after what feels like the universe being against me when it comes to blogging from Shanghai I finally have some time online! I’ve been in Shanghai since Tuesday with Louis Vuitton, who invited five bloggers from around the world to come celebrate the store opening of their new Louis Vuitton Maison in Shanghai’s most expensive mall, Plaza 66.
What followed was easily the highlight of my blogging career and I cannot describe how surreal the entire experience was. From eating breakfast in the Park Hyatt with Marc Jacobs and Alexa Chung sitting only tables away from us, to witnessing the LV Express Train arrive in Shanghai and the recreation of the Louis Vuitton AW 12/13 show in all of its spectacular glory, to standing only a meter away from Lana Del Rey as she surprised guests at the Louis Vuitton after party, there really wasn’t one moment where I wasn’t appreciating everything that was happening around me and questioning if it was all real.
As I sort through my hundreds of photos I thought I’d do a quick little post on when I checked into my hotel room. As you can see, my love for New Zealand designers is stronger than ever and my suitcase was full of beautiful pieces from Kate Sylvester, Karen Walker and Twenty Seven Names for the special evening events. The cat cameo print by Twenty Seven Names is hands down my favourite print of the season, which is quite predictable to anyone who knows me and how much I am obsessed with cats! Cannot wait to take you all on this journey with me during my first trip to Shanghai. “Going away is going to Louis Vuitton”, if only every trip was as luxurious as this…
