Peeking down the little alleyways when floating through Florence is what Carin and I found ourselves doing when on the search for, of all things, a steamer for our crinkled and not-so-chic-looking outfits. The Christmas cheer was still lingering throughout this romantic city, with fairy lights and red ribbons draping above its cute little streets and lamp-posts adorned with pots of cheer. It made me nostalgic for the time I had just spent with my friends and family over the Christmas break yet I warmly welcomed the new sensations I was feeling, knowing I was surrounded by so many Italians who seem to exude an invisible and contagious energy and enthusiasm for fashion, beauty and life.

When we arrived in Paris I was greeted with that googly-eyed appreciation I always experience when I see this city, as well as a not-so-googly-eyed missing suitcase the airline just casually decided not to load onto our flight. Awesome. One and a half days later it finally arrived, and although that doesn’t sound like a very long time it felt like a lifetime considering how much little clothing, shoes or even skincare products I had with me. It made me realise how all of these possessions could easily be replaced, but how expensive it would be considering how many investment pieces I had accumulated over the years. Trying not to think about it and taking it all in our stride, I did what anyone would have done when they’ve potentially lost their luggage and did a quick visit to Zara. Stocking up on easy basics and little lacey things it made me realise just how far pieces as simple as a little black singlet and white skirt can go, mixing and matching them with past and present purchases and an Autumn-looking Parisian park.

Funnily enough the main thing I was wearing was a smile. Being in Paris, clothes-less and all didn’t seem too bad when you have this beautiful city to distract you.

During my time in Paris I didn’t have a chance to peruse through the retail stores. Not that I usually do, for many reasons that seem logical and responsible, but on one grey afternoon in Paris after one wrong turn to the next, Carin and I found ourselves wandering through the marvellous and mouth-watering selection of Parisian boutique stores. I was in awe, and I came home with two new purchases that happened to be two new pairs of shoes I just couldn’t imagine leaving behind. My reasoning was at least I can fit these in my suitcase, unlike Luke or my cat who are always so hard to leave behind.

This powder blue pair of Sophia Webster heels caught my attention immediately. Quirky yet quintessential, just like my love for nearly every pair of Charlotte Olympia Heels I come across. Perhaps it was the lack of powder blue sky in Paris that day but I was already envisioning how I would wear these heels. Styled with a simple white on white outfit with a fairy floss textured jumper and a box-shaped skirt, I let this pair of statement heels do all the talking whilst I rolled around Paris in a sugar and eclair induced coma.

Feeling a little romantic during a warm afternoon in Paris. I’m so inspired by not only the locations I see, but also the colours of each landscape as well. With the foliage changing from vibrant green to burning orange and shades of brown, I loved this pop of contrast from this cobalt blue dress against this golden Autumn backdrop. Add a dainty slip dress layered with a lace singlet and you have an outfit that’s apparently a little frowned upon by the super chic but conservative Parisians. Judging by my love for hyper coloured images (or preference to how I see the world in general?) you could say contrast isn’t a bad thing in my books. Inappropriately dressing always seems so appropriate for that very reason. Day dresses that look like night gowns , I honestly can’t think of anything better or more comfortable to wear during our sticky summer nights. A contrast that I’m a little too accustomed to.

After New York we were tossing up whether we should go to London or not. London is an expensive city just like Sydney, although between fashion week and booking so last minute the accommodation prices soar even higher. Luckily my lovely friend Peony invited us to stay with her for a few nights and after arriving at her incredibly cozy home it was quite hard to leave.

In between attending a handful of meetings and shows, Carin and I were able to catch up on sleeping, cooking actual meals and drinking green tea. Sweet Moses how I’ve missed having the time to make tea! We would stay up until 2am each night talking about everything and nothing with Peony whilst getting on top of editing our photos and watching reality TV. To be honest I couldn’t think of anything more perfect. It was exactly what we needed and I have Peony to thank for prolonging my sanity a little bit longer during such a crazy month.

I wore this to the Burberry show. It was a result of placing an order with ASOS and having the luxury of it arriving the next day, as well as mixing it with pieces I had just bought or borrowed. I wasn’t accustomed to the colder climate that welcomed us to London so before I knew it I was layering the only coat I had with a cashmere jumper I had stolen borrowed from Peony.
