It’s been a long 24 hours but we’ve finally arrived in Paris. I’m here for some of my favourite shows, important meetings, but most of all two photo shoots that are perhaps the biggest in my career so far. It’s daunting, but I can’t help but feel nothing but excitement. Daunting excitement? Does that exist? Can you find a certain amount of excitement daunting?
Luke is also here and it’s been a true blessing to be able to spend so much time together this season, if not year. Last year we hardly saw each other as we were both working in different countries for long periods of time. I was working with Carin mostly in Europe and America, while Luke was chasing waves and working on finishing a book and short film for Le Boogie Magazine, a magazine he’s also the art director, chief photographer and co-owner of. We were spending three weeks to three months apart at a time, but we’ve both always been incredibly independent and ambitious, so we never thought twice about the time together we were sacrificing. It seems everyone else found it more interesting than we did!
I wrote in one of my oldest blog posts that I never cared for the life I was giving up for my work because I was building towards a whole new one. This new life will always include Luke, so with a little more planning and conscious effort we’ve been able to combine our work to be in the same country which means more time together.
I can’t wait to show you all even more of what we’ve been spending our time on. Well, besides the inside of a plane…
Bonjour beautiful Paris! So happy to be back.
