Skipping back to what looks like a very frosty morning in New York. In my defence, it was a balmy 11 degrees this day, so I would never have thought I’d be mumbling “Why did I wear so many thermals? It’s too hot!” to myself after complaining about the freezing cold for so long.  It seems I may have been staring at this white blanket of snow covering every inch of New York for too long, so layering white on white on white seemed like a natural result of adapting to my surroundings and resembling how I physically felt – a snowflake floating through this dreamy city.

Now for a random thought: I’ve been unable to update my blog for about a week now since switching and upgrading servers. This is a good and bad thing. Good? Because it means you’re all visiting my blog so much that I’m exceeding my bandwidth allowance and as a result had to upgrade to a faster and more powerful server. Bad? Because it means there’s a few fresh glitches that we’re trying to smooth out. If you notice any errors or loading problems please let me know the comments below. I’m currently in New York and my blog decided not to load at all for a few hours, so it differs from country to country as it was loading perfectly fine for Australia. Many thanks in advance! x

In an attempt to stick to my New Year’s resolutions I’ve finally embraced black on black into my wardrobe. I know it sounds strange but I’ve always been immediately drawn to colour, prints or lighter shades. Basically anything that isn’t black. I always reasoned with myself ‘Why wear black and blend into the crowd when you can have so much more fun with colour?’. I guess my biggest reasoning for embracing black is that it is, and always will be, timeless. It’s the epitome of chic and after such a long haul flight to Florence chic is exactly what I needed. I wore this during the day with yet another affordable and fuzzy mammoth coat and styled my new favourite top with this fitted pencil skirt (that looks better in real life) and wine lipstick for a darker and more edgier look for the evening. Me… being edgy? Perhaps it’s the dawn of a new era. Who knows, I might even purchase my first pair of track pants (these would make more sense on flights than my leather pants) or light blue jeans.

Peeking down the little alleyways when floating through Florence is what Carin and I found ourselves doing when on the search for, of all things, a steamer for our crinkled and not-so-chic-looking outfits. The Christmas cheer was still lingering throughout this romantic city, with fairy lights and red ribbons draping above its cute little streets and lamp-posts adorned with pots of cheer. It made me nostalgic for the time I had just spent with my friends and family over the Christmas break yet I warmly welcomed the new sensations I was feeling, knowing I was surrounded by so many Italians who seem to exude an invisible and contagious energy and enthusiasm for fashion, beauty and life.

I fell in love with this coat as soon as I realized it kept me feeling just as warm and fuzzy on the outside as I felt on the inside once I hopped back on that plane heading for Europe. Jumping from different climates, I wasn’t entirely sure if my baggage allowance or wallet was ready for my winter wardrobe. Finding good investment coats seems to be an ordeal these days, with the price tag for the ones I love exceeding my budget and overflowing into the four digit bracket. Still, stumbling across coats like this at an affordable price are a godsend. The perfect cocoon style to drape over neutral or pastel tones during a dreary winter, or purely for filling the space of being away from Luke so much by being a portable hug from a polar bear which swallows me whole.

Living in Australia means I’m accustomed to having quite generously warm weather all year round. My skin goes quite olive during the warmer months and the freckles across my nose inevitably get darker, even after the application of 50+ sunscreen and seeking shade wherever I can. Even though I try to avoid this, it makes it easy to be drawn to crisp whites and soft nudes during summer to keep me feeling fresh and radiant. Simple silhouettes also rule my summer wardrobe as it’s the perfect season for my less is always more approach. Add a soft pink lip, some illuminator cream across the top of my cheekbones and underneath my brow, and never enough YSL Touche Eclat to underneath my eye area and I’m ready for a glowing day around Hamilton Island with my love.

I really need to make a video of my beauty routine for you finally. It’s on my to-do holiday season list. And yes, I never don’t have a to-list dictating my every day life, minute, second. I’d rather it a list than a nagging boyfriend though. Win.
