Sincerest apologies for the short absence. After forgetting my hard drive on my trips to Tasmania and Byron Bay for New Year’s Eve, I’ve been spending some quality time offline with the ones I love over the summer break in Australia. Although it was never my intention to do so, I quickly welcomed this short break to step back, reassess my goals and focus on what’s really important. It’s like committing suicide if you go missing from the online world for a few days, let alone not blogging for weeks on end, but once in a while a little break is forced upon us to ensure a healthy and happy mind, body and soul when finding balance in a world that rarely keeps peoples feet firmly on the ground.

As my second last post for 2013 I wanted to finally share this editorial with you. 2013 wouldn’t have been the year that it was unless I finished it off by sharing my Westfield campaign as their spring/summer Ambassador. This editorial was featured as signage in Australian Westfield stores, published in their magazine ‘The Index’, and used as advertorials in magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar Australia and Elle Australia. As the face of the largest shopping centre company in the world (specifically their four premium luxury centres in Australia only), this was easily the biggest campaign I have had the opportunity to work on thus far, and perhaps my most favourite too.

As someone who is never content; always striving to do more and to do better, I’m excited by the thought of what exactly is waiting for us all in 2014. I’m putting together a little something for you all in my next post. Until then, a very belated Happy 2014!

Westfield Ambassador Diary http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/10/westfield-ambassador-diary http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/10/westfield-ambassador-diary#comments Fri, 04 Oct 2013 08:07:36 +0000 http://garypeppergirl.com/?p=21080 It's been a very crazy few months with Westfield as their summer ambassador for 2013 and I honestly don't know where to begin. ]]>

It’s been a very crazy few months with Westfield as their summer ambassador for 2013 and I honestly don’t know where to begin. The last two and a half months have seen me embark on what has to be one of the biggest highlights of my career so far. I’ve personally and professionally grown in this short amount of time, learning both the positives and negatives of working on a campaign this large and how to handle it. I visited three different states in Australia to host special media events to launch our #limousine13 fashion film as well as hosting Vogue Fashion’s Night Out in Sydney CBD where we had an overwhelming response with hundreds of people flooding into the middle of the bustling Sydney CBD. Perhaps the 14 topless men had something to do with it?

My latest role as Westfield’s ambassador was visiting Westfield Doncaster in Melbourne to launch a special project – a millinery exhibition called ‘Reflections of Spring Racing’ which features not ordinary photos, but instead eight cinemagraphs of eight of Australia’s most fashionable women. Each in a exquisite hat and showcasing the best up-coming fashion for the Spring Racing Festival which is just around the corner!

This is just a little scrapbook / diary of my experiences over the past few months with Westfield. There has been campaign shoots, magazine shoots, media events and TV and print interviews. You’ll also notice my lovely co-stars Jordan and Zac Stenmark are featured quite a lot. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had a #stenmarksandwich but I’m utterly grateful for this opportunity for bringing us all together.

I never realised how much having the support of my friends, readers and peers meant to me until now. A quick thank you to everyone who took the time to attend our events, wrote articles, sent warm wishes, commented, tweeted, instagrammed and hashtagged. None of it went unnoticed and I truly appreciate your support for this campaign. I’m still coming to terms with the fact it’s already over, but looking back on these photos makes it feel like it was just yesterday we were nervously filming on set in a big empty warehouse in the middle of winter…

Louis Vuitton – The Spy Who Loved Me http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/10/louis-vuitton-the-spy-who-loved-me http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/10/louis-vuitton-the-spy-who-loved-me#comments Mon, 30 Sep 2013 14:36:35 +0000 http://garypeppergirl.com/?p=21019 It's been a long time coming but finally I can share with you all the exciting collaboration I did with Zanita and Louis Vuitton when we were in Paris together.]]>

It’s been a long time coming but finally I can share with you all the exciting collaboration I did with Zanita and Louis Vuitton when we were in Paris together. This particular shoot we had been counting down to for months and months and before we knew it we were being whisked away on the ultimate Louis Vuitton experience. The days leading up to this photo shoot we were taken to explore the Louis Vuitton family home in Paris and guided through its historic floral walls and accompanying workshop, where we witnessed the process of making Louis Vuitton’s iconic and custom made-to-order pieces.

Like any assignment you have to do your research, and creating content and editorials for my blog is no different. To truly understand a subject or brand you need to invest the time into really learning about its personality and heritage, then interpret it in your own way to make it your own to ideally align two brands to create something that will resonate with your audience. This is something I do for all of my creative collaborations and one I found extremely interesting when working with Louis Vuitton, a brand that dates all the way back to 1854 and one I had already started learning more about when we went to Shanghai together last year.

For a brand famous for its luxury leather goods and travel luggage Zanita and I wanted to come up with a concept that was a little more fun and playful, whilst mixing elements of Louis Vuitton’s hometown of Paris and its dreamy and romantic landscapes. The result was “The Spy Who Loved Me”, a creative concept that sees me play the role of a secret agent who explores and travels through Paris with Louis Vuitton.

I always love working with Zanita and this has to be my favorite shoot we’ve ever done together. I can’t help but feel we’ve been working towards projects like this since we started shooting together those few years ago. But from the back streets of Sydney to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, it doesn’t matter where we are or what we’re shooting we always manage to make the most of every second and take the time to appreciate just how much we love our work and more importantly, working together. I’ll never take that for granted, nor this wonderful opportunity with Louis Vuitton that is a memory I will keep and cherish forever.

Life is Beautiful with Lancome http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/09/life-is-beautiful-with-lancome http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/09/life-is-beautiful-with-lancome#comments Mon, 16 Sep 2013 23:45:53 +0000 http://garypeppergirl.com/?p=20648 "La Vie Est Belle" or "Life is Beautiful", and so are you...]]>

Recreate the look: Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes Palette in Fraicheur Rose and Bain Du Minuit / Lancôme Artliner / Lancôme Hypnose Doll Eyes Mascara / Lancôme Teint Visionnaire / Lancôme Genifique Advanced / Lancôme La Vie Est Belle Fragrance

It’s been so hard trying to keep these photos a secret for such a long time. Back in July, Luke and I flew to Paris to join Lancome in celebration of their new Lancome x Alber Elbaz collection. The following two days were spent shooting this, a creative collaboration to celebrate Lancome’s new Hypnose Eye Palettes revolving around their one key message – “La Vie Est Belle”, which means “Life is beautiful” in French.

Since beginning my blog I have been continuously asked countless times what shade of red lipstick it is I’m wearing in my photos. If you scroll back to some of my first interviews ever back in 2009 you’ll notice that even back then I was, and still am, using the same lipstick by Lancome (it used to be Color Fever Shade 151 until they discontinued this line which is now replaced by Rouge in Love Shade 181N Rouge St Honore). This is a brand I genuinely love and have been using for years, so to be approached by an international beauty house like Lancome to work exclusively together on a creative collaboration (and in somewhere none other than Paris and France!) is honestly a dream come true for me.

The name “Lancôme” was inspired by the ruins of a castle, Le Château de Lancosme in Central France, while the roses in the area inspired the company’s symbol of the single golden rose. Luke and I took this as the core inspiration for our shoot, as well as portraying my version of “La Vie Est Belle” moments. We decided to not only shoot in somewhere as iconic as Paris, but in places like Central France which added a subtle sentimental element by paying homage to Lancome’s French heritage. I also wanted to keep Lancome’s iconic rose symbol a cohesive theme throughout the shoot with the use of florals seen in colourful and ethereal landscapes we scouted in Provence and Central France. And honestly, these photos don’t even do them justice. The lavender fields were perhaps one of the most serene landscapes I have ever seen, and I’m still dreaming about them.

I shared a few behind the scenes images with elle.com.au so if you’d like to see more (and perhaps one of my favourite photos I’ve shot with Luke ever…) you can see them here.

So enjoy my tiny glimpse into the romantic world of Lancome, where the colours seem more vibrant, the sun is always shining and the possibilities seem endless. A place where you can fall in love and a place where you can dream. “La Vie Est Belle” or “Life is Beautiful”, and so are you…

Dolce & Gabbana http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/09/dolce-and-gabbana http://garypeppergirl.com/2013/09/dolce-and-gabbana#comments Mon, 09 Sep 2013 23:27:12 +0000 http://garypeppergirl.com/?p=20348 The week before I flew to New York for NYFW I flew down to Melbourne in Australia to work on a special project with Dolce & Gabbana.]]>

It seems one of the benefits of having jet lag is the ability to focus on being productive with nothing to distract you as the rest of the world sleeps. It’s kind of a weird feeling to be honest, but with the amount of content I need to upload in the coming weeks there’s never a better time than now.

The week before I flew to New York for NYFW I flew down to Melbourne in Australia to work on a special project with Dolce & Gabbana for their new store opening on Collins Street, which opened its doors only today. This is their very first mono-brand flagship store in Australia so we wanted to create a special shoot that reflected the Italian spirit of Dolce & Gabbana mixed with the heritage of historical Melbourne. We traveled to a handful of iconic Melbourne locations like Flinder’s St Station, Princes St Bridge, Pelligrini’s, Botanical Gardens, and my all time favourite St Kilda Pier which seemed to easily provide the perfect backdrops to welcome these clashing traditions.

Spanning over 300 square meters of retail space, the store carries both women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections as well as a wide collection of small leather goods, bags, shoes, costume jewelry, sunglasses and even their mesmerizing fragrances. Two floors alone are dedicated entirely to the newest arrival of Dolce’s women’s ready-to-wear collections which includes these stunning pieces from the Fall collection seen in this shoot.

As I genuinely love Dolce & Gabbana I could not be happier to welcome this Italian powerhouse to our sunny shores of Australia as I casually float through Melbourne on its Sicilian cloud, wearing pieces only my wildest dreams are made of and dreaming about when exactly the second Dolce & Gabbana store will make its way to me in the Sydney CBD. Only a matter of time…
