For this Cannes Film Festival I flew in an Australian photographer from Paris, Rodney Deane, whom I met during Paris Fashion Week through our mutual friend Amanda. We immediately felt like we’d known each other for years, so he joined Amanda and I for our trip to Nice shortly after Paris Fashion Week and we’ve kept in contact since.

Rodney comes from a strong photography background, assisting one of Australia’s leading fashion photographers, Steven Chee, before moving to Paris to start his own career. As talented as he is as a photographer, it’s his contagious personality that caught my attention. He’s optimistic and full of energy all the time, which is so refreshing to be around in an industry that can quickly chew you up and spit you out, leaving most jaded or bitter.

We had such a full schedule that Rodney and I didn’t get to shoot as much as we had hoped for, but I love how the images turned out, especially as Rodney has his own eye and shoots differently to what I have in the past.

Rodney and I spent five wonderful days in Cannes with my team. We ended the week with an event for The Harmonist, a new luxury fragrance brand that’s inspired by Asian philosophy and the energy, power and harmony of feng shui. I’ve always wanted to invest more time into learning more about feng shui, so it was lovely discovering what element I was (I’m fire) and finishing a fast-paced week in such a calm and peaceful way.

Now that I’m home for a few days my goal is to find rebalance and regime into my daily routine again and to work on my ‘chi’.
